Samsung Galaxy S26 Series Gets AirDrop-Like File Sharing via Quick Share

Samsung has introduced an AirDrop-like file sharing feature for its Galaxy S26 series through an updated Quick Share system, enabling cross-platform transfers between Android and Apple devices, according to company announcements and media reports.

The feature, which began rolling out on March 23, 2026, allows users of Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra devices to wirelessly send photos, videos, and documents directly to Apple devices such as iPhones and Macs without requiring third-party applications.

Limited rollout; India yet to receive update
Samsung said the rollout will initially cover select regions including South Korea, North America, Europe, Japan, and parts of Southeast Asia, with availability in other markets—such as India—expected at a later stage.

The company noted that “availability and timing may vary by market,” indicating that users in India may need to wait for the update to be pushed to their devices.

How the feature works
The new capability is integrated into Samsung’s existing Quick Share feature. Once enabled, it allows Galaxy devices to detect nearby Apple devices and transfer files over a direct wireless connection, similar to Apple’s AirDrop system.

Users must manually activate the option by navigating to Quick Share settings and turning on “Share with Apple devices.” Both sending and receiving devices need to be set to visible modes—typically “Everyone”—for the transfer to work.

Part of broader cross-platform push
Samsung’s move follows a similar step by Google, which introduced AirDrop interoperability on Pixel devices in 2025. This reflects a broader industry trend toward improving compatibility between Android and iOS ecosystems.

The update is seen as a step toward simplifying file sharing across platforms, particularly in markets where both Android and Apple devices are widely used.

Further updates regarding availability in India and expansion to other Galaxy devices are expected in the coming months, according to company statements.
